Bognor!
« on: 16 March, 2019, 16:51:11 »
I've just got back from a 3 hour session at bognor. What a gem!

Theres 3 sections. The main section at the front is the under 18s. Loads of variety here, everything from a row of 80s games, even a machine by castle! All the way up to the 3 player monopoly and legendary astra vegas 3 player. Theres a scattering of reds, a handful of classic low techs, like ring a bell, a few I'd never seen before like a surfing clone of empire. Theres some maygays from the 90s, theres a few global's and a Miami dice. Theres pushers and cranes, a Daytona 2 player racer. This section alone smashes every arcade on the south coast out of the water!

But it gets better, towards the back is an over 18s section full of 90s and 2000s belters, classic crests like road hog, 20p maygays and a load of bell fruits from their heyday. A sprinkling of classic jams from the 90s and Of course theres a sphinx on 10 quid jacky and a spin wall because it's so tall it wont fit elsewhere :).

Then there's another over 18s to the left of the arcade. Theres some newer stuff in here, 70s and 500s, as well as some classics like a 15 red alert and a hi karate. Theres a row or crests and a 3 player top slot. Basically theres something in this arcade for everyone.

In the 3 hours I didnt get to play everything, but it's less than an hour down the road from me so I'll be there whenever I have s few hours to burn. Theres still a few teething issues, particularly in the 5 pounder section, and I found Dave buried behind the how big is your rock fixing up frantically getting them up and running.  Amelia was busy fixing up the last few machines too.

It may be a bit late opening,  but you can see the amount of thought and work that has gone into it.  I'd recommend everyone to give the place a visit. :)

Well done Dave, Amelia and co!

Sounds fantastic, cant wait to pay a visit to this place.

By the sounds of your description, it sounded quite big, how many machines do you think were in there?

Thanks for posting the report, I will look forward to meeting up with Dave, Amelia and the team very soon.

Maybe 30 in the newer over 18s, perhaps 50 in the classic over 18s, maybe 70 in the main section? It's a fair size and theres a lot there.

Wow just WOW !!!

Thanks for posting about you're few hours at Bognor.
Did you come out up or down ? 😊
How was the games playing?
Many jackpots ? Did you have a play on Las Vegas strip ? Was there many players in attendance?

Cant wait to get back down there.
Bognor will certainly be the greatest arcade on the south coast. To be fair it sounds lame saying arcade I feel like I'm playing with a community of fellow classic fans when I step inside one if Dave's establishments.

Would love to see a video on reel fruits YouTube channel. Thanks for your write up mate.

Ah I did think about making a video but I was too busy playing. Hopefully my description helps. :)

I actually came out up, but mostly from the over 18s. As is usually the case, most stuff played well, jackpot rolled out the 5 pounders and the classic over 18s too. I had a jackpot from real skill on 10 sphinx second win, a jackpot off of Indiana Jones leap of faith first board, a jackpot nudge straight in on hyper viper, I played the red alert till it came back from the dead for a fire and lift and a few wins. Actually ended up a few quid up even on that. The empire clone did a mega streak on 10p/5 for 13. 4 rolled straight in on revolution (4 classic, not the barcrest), I had a 15 super bank raid feature on 10p Miami dice. I played all 3 top slots. All three went up off the first win, although one took a bit to give a win as they can. They did 25, 2+25 and 5+5 on the top respectively. But honestly everything played well, win or lose. I played the Vegas stip too, that did a few quid but I didnt play it well if I'm honest. I think it could have been a jackpot board. Oh and Vegas nights did a double 5 jackpot top just as I was heading out :).

I don't really care about losing money. I have 50 on me when I arrived and took a ton out of the cash point. I'm not bothered of I lose a chunk as long as I get a decent session for the money. :) I'm buying entertainment, and if you win a few bucks then it's a bonus.

Overall, well worth a visit. When the games that aren't yet ready are up and running it'll be massive. I had no problem losing 3 hours in there, could have done 3 more. There was still plenty to play. I'm looking forward to going back... maybe a few of you will be there!

Forgot...there were a few people there, particularly in the 2 over 18s sections. It wasn't massively busy but I guess that's down to the low key opening.  I don't think there was anyone from the forums there whilst I was there.

:), Chris, unfortunately not ewn mk2,  but there was plenty of games I think you'd approve of. A smash and grab which I had a few quid on. Probably played it like a muppet but didnt do too badly.

Ha soz. I'll be back in the next week or two I'm sure. If theres no vids or photos on here by then I'll do a few shots each section and upload them here.

I think it would have been a bit unfair on the place, to be honest. The 5 section was still being worked on so there were still a lot of machines out there and a few in the classics section. By the next trip I expect itll be looking a lot more polished.

I even handed in a couple of sets of keys in the payout trays whilst there and another customer handed a set in too :). There was a few loose ends to tidy up I think.

Brilliant, so well over 100 machines then.

Wow, didn't realise it was going to be quite that big.

Is it a lot larger than Reelfruits and Tonbridge then I assume?

Cant wait, looking forward to it already.

Yeah easily as big as both together I'd say and way over 100 machines. The place is pretty big. It's the best of both worlds in my opinion. Genuinely something for every type of player.

Went to Bognor yesterday and had a great time, didn't end up leaving till the doors shut around 10.15
Sorry Graham I never said hi as I was not aware another forum member was in the arcade
Had a great session on Vivid's Stars and Strips 3 player which is my all time favourite 3 player which Dave put on a early program and of course the high percentage as always,
also has a good session on the original Hyper Viper and the gameplay was great, I lost count how many jackpots I had lol, had a nice run on Roller Coaster and Spotted Dick too.
Had a session in the AGC, won a few 25 jackpots and had a nice run out of a Rainbow Riches 35 jackpot which is set on 94%
Can not wait till next time which will be sometime this month for sure.

Oh and I forgot to mention...
Stay well clear of the red chip shop on the front, by far the worst chip shop I have ever been in, I took a seat in the so called resturant had medium pie and chips and a tea and the pie had been reheated, the pastry was like cardboard and burnt around the edges, the chips were not good at all plus the mayo tasted like ice cream, the tea was ok but the price weren't... 9.80.

Ah no worries super7, I also didn't know anyone from here was there  I was there from 12-3ish, wearing an orange animal top.

I'll definitely be there whenever I have a few hours to spare, since its within an hour of me. Are you local to bognor?

:) I'm not surprised about that chippy,  I've never been in because it looks a bit cakey to me and it's always quiet when I've seen it, even in the summer. Hopefully the cremation of your food should at least steer you clear or food poisoning. Trouble is I don't know where in bognor does decent grub. The only times I've eaten there I ended up in spoons or Gregg's.

Yeah you cant to too wrong with the mass produced spoons grease. Its identical everywhere. Except in Gatwick airport. It was terrible there.

Now I have an arcade within reach maybe I'll run into some of you guys on here. Would be nice to put a face to the names.

Do you do the hovercraft, the foot ferry or take a car over? Those prices are extortion these days. Last year I was gonna hop on the hovercraft for a few hours in Ryder. I think they wanted something like 23 quid for the privilege.  I stayed in southsea.
